Parent Initiative

An open, non-judgmental forum to talk freely about the challenges we all face in dealing with our challenging children. We hope to give parents an outlet to express themselves, obtain new ideas, and educate themselves regarding programs within our community that could help their families.

Our monthly meetings have two components: one meeting focuses on education and information sharing with guest speakers about a topic that is of interest to the group on one. The second meeting is a typical support meeting with an open topic being discussed for a free flow of ideas among parents. We encourage positivity and constructive criticisms while avoiding negativity and“bashing.”

This group is open to any parent(s) who has a child facing challenges in school, at home, or within our community.

Parent Initiative meets 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month 6 – 8 pm,
Salvation Army 7453 Morgan Road, Liverpool, NY 13090 , with Tori Shearer and
2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month 6 – 8 pm,
Park Central Presbyterian Church 504 East Fayette Street, Syracuse NY 13202 with
Lisa Selim

Free Childcare is available but we must have an RSVP to ensure we have adequate staff available.
